One Rider. One Journal. One Week That Changed Everything.
“This experience is easily worth two million dollars.” That’s how Vinnie Scaffidi, a The Moto Academy App member, opened his recap of camp. And by the time you finish reading, you’ll understand exactly why.
From the moment Vinnie rolled into the pits late Sunday night, something clicked. Not because the track was perfect (it was), or because the sun was shining (it was hot)—but because he felt like he’d landed in the right place, with the right people, at the right time in his life.
Finding Family in the Dirt
Before the coaching even started, the camp’s sense of community showed up strong. Thanks to fellow app member Dan (aka “Meta Moto”), Vinnie had a prime pit spot waiting for him to park, and a friend by his side. As he put it, Dan “would give you the last shirt he owned off his back if you needed it.” That’s not just a riding camp—that’s family.
By Monday morning, the excitement was real. Vinnie explored the grounds on his bicycle, offered help to the arriving TMA staff, and soaked in the energy of a week that hadn’t even started yet. He was placed in the Green Group (beginners), and as his first practice moto approached, the nerves settled into something else—gratitude.
“Reinvent” – A Word That Meant Everything
Tuesday morning, Vinnie woke up changed. Not because he magically became a better rider overnight—but because something changed in his mindset.
He saw AJ’s post that morning about reinvention and decided to make it his own. He grabbed a piece of duct tape, slapped it across his bar pad, and wrote out his new identity in permanent marker:
I AM CONSISTENT.
I AM SMOOTH.
I AM GOOD AT JUMPING.
Those weren’t just words—they were reminders. Every corner, every reset, every challenge on the track became a moment to choose belief over fear. Vinnie was reinventing his riding in real time. And the TMA coaches? They saw it. So did the other riders.
From Visualization to Transformation
As the week progressed, Vinnie threw himself into every part of the experience: morning runs with Coach Mitchell, mindset lectures, section work on the SX track, and film study each evening. He connected with other app members like Dhylan and Kyle, watched their form, shared encouragement, and learned from every lap—his and theirs.
By Wednesday’s final moto, it all came together. Flow, confidence, timing. That last ride wasn’t just fast—it was freeing.
“Everything I wanted to improve upon, I knew this was my final time to prove to myself that I leveled up.”
And he did. Fully.
Why We Do This
Vinnie’s experience is why The Moto Academy exists. It’s about growth. It’s about confidence. And it’s about doing hard things in a place where people believe in you—even before you believe in yourself.
And while Vinnie’s mindset was powerful on its own, it was the people around him who helped bring it to life. Coaches who notice. Teammates who care—not teammates in the traditional sense, but riders he’d only ever met inside The Moto Academy App. And yet, the bond was real. They encouraged each other like old friends, even before they’d ever shared a track. That’s what makes this community different. It feels like home, even before you’ve arrived.
The real word of the week is "Family", Vinnie wrote.
We couldn’t agree more.
