This Is What It Feels Like to Watch Your Kid Want to Quit
At 8 years old, Jaxon was ready to walk away from the sport he loved.
He’d been riding for a year already, but something wasn’t clicking.
The fear was real—jumps that looked too big, corners that came too fast, bikes that felt unpredictable. And at the track, most of the other kids seemed faster, braver, more confident.
That hurt.
So he told his dad he wanted to stop racing.
And like so many motocross parents, his dad didn’t know how to help.
He wasn’t a rider himself. He couldn’t fix Jaxon’s fear. Couldn’t teach technique.
But what he could do… was look for help.
That search led them to YouTube.
And that’s where they discovered AJ Catanzaro and The Moto Academy.
A New Path Forward
Jaxon’s first Moto Academy class was at MX23 in Massachusetts. He was nervous, unsure, and honestly? Still thinking about quitting.
But something shifted that day.
AJ didn’t just coach Jaxon on how to ride—he talked to him like someone who mattered. When Jaxon hit a milestone, AJ gave real, personal feedback:
“You know what you’re doing.”
“You’re safe.”
“Trust what you’ve learned.”
And for the first time, Jaxon did.
He started listening to the bike.
Started trusting himself.
Started seeing fear as something to work through—not run from.
The Ride Wasn’t Always Smooth
Over the next few years, Jaxon cried.
He raced. He stopped racing. He trained. He wanted to quit again.
He got scared. He got hurt. He got back up.
He felt every emotion a kid can feel on a dirt bike.
But he kept showing up.
And every time he came back to The Moto Academy—whether at a tour date, open practice, or especially through training inside The Moto Academy App—he got better.
He studied every video. He practiced the drills. He took the feedback seriously.
And slowly… the scared kid who didn’t believe in himself?
He disappeared.
The Rider He Is Now
Today, Jaxon is 13.
He clears jumps that once terrified him.
He helps younger kids at the track.
He beams with pride when he talks to his teachers about dirt bikes.
And most of all?
He’s confident.
Not just on the bike—but in himself.
His favorite place to ride now?
The brand-new Supercross track in Winchester, NH.
Because it’s technical. It’s fun. It demands control—not speed.
And for a kid who used to be scared of what the bike might do… that’s everything.
The People Who Made It Happen
Jaxon’s journey wasn’t just about the training. It was about the people.
- • AJ, who always saw his potential before he did
- • Driver Jamie, who gave encouragement when it mattered most
- • Ethan, Aj's video guy, who gave Jaxon laughs, confidence, and just enough sarcasm to make him feel like part of the team
The Moto Academy became more than coaching. It became a second family.
