AJ Catanzaro
Owner / Coach
Surrounded by dirt bikes from birth, I learned to ride at age 2 and competed in amateur nationals for 14 years before earning a spot in the 2010 AMA Arenacross series, winning the championship in my first year. After years of racing Supercross and multiple top 5 finishes, I discovered my true passion for coaching, leading me to create The Moto Academy, where I now help others improve their riding skills.

TY Lepicier
COACH
I started riding dirt bikes at 4 years old and began racing at Loretta Lynn’s and other amateur nationals by age 8. Shortly after meeting AJ at a track in Connecticut, I started focusing on technique, adapting to changing conditions, and developing consistency. From an early age, I put everything else aside to dedicate myself fully to riding, training extensively at facilities and eventually racing professionally in Canada and the U.S.
In 2024, a shoulder injury gave me extra time to begin coaching independently, soon leading to discussions about joining the team. I've discovered a passion for coaching equal to riding, and I’m grateful to be in a position to share my experience.

Grant Eckardt
Coach
I got my first motocross bike at age 3, inspired by my dad’s passion for racing, but it wasn’t until I found AJ's Moto Academy at 17 that I truly began improving my technique and advancing from novice to expert. Now a full-time coach at The Moto Academy, I balance racing Canadian Pro Triple Crown events with helping others ride safely, while enjoying hobbies like flying, golfing, and mountain biking.

Have Questions?
FAQ: What group do I belong in?
We offer three class groups—A/B (Intermediate to Advanced), Beginner, and Mini—so you can train at the level that’s right for you. However, these groupings aren’t an exact science; there’s flexibility to move up or down as your skills progress.
-
A/B Class (Intermediate to Advanced)
- Ideal if you’ve logged plenty of seat time, feel comfortable riding at speed, and have solid bike control.
- Typically suited for bigger bikes (e.g., 125cc and up), but a skilled 85cc rider who’s fast and confident may also fit here.
- Expect a quicker pace and a focus on more advanced supercross techniques.
-
Beginner Class
- Perfect for C-class riders, newer riders, or anyone unsure about their speed/skill level.
- Slower pace and less intense drills, designed to help you build confidence and master foundational techniques.
- An excellent starting point if you’re uncertain where you fit — you can always move up to A/B later on.
-
Mini Class
- Restricted to 85cc bikes and smaller — no big bikes permitted.
- For younger riders or anyone on smaller-displacement bikes.
- Offers a supportive environment to develop safe riding habits on a scaled-down track format.
Still not sure which group?
- Choose Beginner if you’re on the fence. You’ll still learn core skills, and you can always switch to A/B if you feel you’re advancing quickly.
- Never locked in: If you try A/B and find it too challenging, you can book a Beginner session next time (and vice versa).
Our goal is to help you improve, regardless of your current level. Select the group that feels like the best match for your skill set—and remember, you can move between groups as you grow in confidence!

The more sessions you commit to, the greater the discount—an excellent way to invest in your training and see faster progress. Plus, when you purchase a bundle, there’s no need to schedule all your sessions at checkout. You’ll receive a “magic link” by email, allowing you to book your time slots at your own pace—perfect if you’re unsure of your schedule.
We use a Shopify booking app called Easy Appointment Booking for our bundles, making it simple for you to manage your training sessions after purchase. Once you buy a bundle, you’ll receive an email with a “magic link” that allows you to schedule your available bookings. You can choose to schedule one class at a time or all at once.
You can also use the links in your email to reschedule or cancel your training days, as long as you do so at least 72 hours before the start time. Our instructors travel to each class, and we limit sessions to 9 riders to ensure a high-quality training experience, so late cancellations prevent another rider from attending.
The Easy Appointment Booking app automatically keeps track of how many classes you’ve used and how many remain.
1. What type of safety gear is mandatory or recommended for riders?
Rider safety is paramount. Motocross-style boots, a helmet, goggles, riding pants, and gloves are required. We also recommend wearing a jersey for comfort and protection. Knee pads and chest protection are advised for added safety but remain optional.
2. Are there any specific bike requirements or mechanical checks riders should perform before using the track?
Your bike must be in proper working order, including correct tire inflation, secure spokes, and overall good mechanical condition. All maintenance is the rider’s responsibility, and no parts or mechanical staff will be available on-site. If you anticipate needing any tools or parts, bring them along to ensure you have a smooth training session.
3. What is your Cancellation / weather policy? Do you offer rescheduling or refunds if the weather affects the track?
Our track is outdoors, and motocross/supercross training typically continues in most weather conditions. However, severe weather or unsafe track conditions may occasionally require cancellations. If this happens, you'll receive an email notification explaining the reason. While we do not offer refunds for weather-related cancellations, you can easily reschedule to another available session using our booking system in your email or by contacting us directly at info@themotoacademy.com.
Additionally, you have full flexibility to reschedule or cancel your training sessions at any time—provided you do so at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time. Since our instructors travel to each class and sessions are limited to 9 riders for an optimal training experience, timely cancellations ensure fairness for all participants.
4. Is there a recommended arrival time or check-in process for each session?
We ask that you be geared up, fueled up, and ready to ride 15 minutes before your session starts. Please plan your arrival so you have enough time to prepare both yourself and your gear.
5. Do parents, spectators, or guests have any special rules or restrictions at the track?
Parents and guests are welcome to watch the training from the fence line. However, they are not permitted on the track while training is in progress to ensure everyone’s safety.
