Camp Curriculum Creator

AJ Catanzaro — Founder

Built by Someone
Who's Lived It

AJ built the TMA 5-Day Camp curriculum from the ground up. Every drill, every progression, every mindset rep. Earned on the track.

  • Founder and Head Coach of The Moto Academy
  • AMA Arenacross Lites West Champion — Turned Pro at 16
  • Competed in Monster Energy AMA Supercross & Lucas Oil Pro Motocross
  • Two Podium Finishes in Red Bull Straight Rhythm
  • Trained Riders in 8+ Countries

Every camp runs a minimum of four head coaches and four assistant coaches. Riders are grouped into teams of around 20 — each with a dedicated head coach and assistant coach locked in on them all week. That works out to roughly one coach for every ten riders. Nobody disappears in the crowd here.

For Every Camp That Sells Out, There Is a Rider Who
Waited Too Long.

Spots are limited by two things: TMA's standards and what each track can safely handle. When a camp hits capacity, that is it. No exceptions. No additions.

Real Riders. Real Camps.

The Reviews That Matter Most Aren't Ours.

Behind every camp is a rider who showed up unsure and left different. These are some of their stories.

The Coaching Brought Them In.
The Community Kept Them Coming Back.

What Camp Actually
Feels Like

Every rider leaves with these three things. Not because we promise them. Because the week itself delivers them.

The Energy at TMA Camp

A Week Where Everyone Wants It as Bad as You Do.

There is no coasting here. From the first moto on Monday to the last session on Friday, the energy on the track is unlike anything in the sport. When everyone around you is pushing, you push too. That environment is something you cannot manufacture. You have to be in it.

The Community at TMA Camp

Strangers on Monday. Family by Friday.

Riders show up not knowing anyone. By the end of the week they are trading numbers, planning the next camp, and texting updates from their home track. The 72% return rate is not just about coaching. A big part of it is this: the people you meet when you are all doing the thing you love most.

What You Carry Home from TMA Camp

The Week Ends. The Riding Does Not.

Better technique stays. The confidence stays. The standard you held yourself to all week stays too. Riders come back to their home track and their whole approach is different. Not just faster. Different. That is what five days with the right coaching actually does.

Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before you commit. If something is not covered here, Britt can answer it.

What ages can attend a 5-day camp?

TMA camps are open to riders from age 5 to 75 and beyond. There is no upper age limit and no minimum skill requirement. If you can ride, you belong here.

What skill level is required?

None. Camps are designed for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Riders are grouped by ability only. Slow riders ride with slow riders, fast riders ride with fast riders. Age has nothing to do with it. A 50-year-old and a teenager can be in the same group if they ride at the same level. The coaching is always matched to where you actually are.

How are riders grouped at camp?

Camps typically run four groups, each color-coded so you always know exactly where you belong. When you arrive you will receive a colored sticker for your number plate. That is your group. Green is beginner. Blue is novice. Orange is intermediate. Red is advanced. Each group has a dedicated head coach and assistant coach with you all week. Nobody gets lost, nobody gets in over their head, and nobody gets held back.

Who coaches the camps?

Every TMA camp is staffed by coaches certified in AJ Catanzaro's curriculum. Not generic instructors, not volunteers. Each camp is divided into ability-based groups of approximately 20 riders. Every group has its own dedicated head coach and assistant coach with them for the entire week. The ratio works out to roughly one coach per ten riders. Nobody gets overlooked and nobody gets in over their head.

What happens after I book?

You will receive an order confirmation right away. From there you are placed into TMA's preparation email series: training videos, packing guides, and everything you need to show up ready. About 7 days before camp you will receive additional details and any required waivers, which can also be completed at the track on the first Monday of camp. 72 hours before camp starts, Kate personally sends a final email with any last-minute changes or specifics for your week.

What should I bring to camp?

After you book, TMA's preparation email series covers exactly what to bring in detail. The essentials: plenty of water and food for each day, standard bike tools and spare parts, a fresh air filter for every day of camp, and at least 5 gallons of fuel per day. Camps are hard on equipment. Come prepared. Pack warm clothes, cool clothes, and rain gear regardless of the forecast. Lunch is not provided by TMA. A food truck is often on site but not guaranteed. Come prepared to be self-sufficient for the day.

What are the bike requirements?

Your bike must be designed for off-road riding with knobby tires and be in good mechanical condition. That is the most important requirement. Camps take place on a motocross track. 65cc through 450cc motocross bikes are the most common, but 110s, 125s, 150s, Talarias, Surrons, and the occasional 500cc 2-stroke are all welcome. 50cc bikes can attend but a spare clutch is strongly recommended. Electric bikes are welcome. The most important thing is that your rider is comfortable on their bike and that it is mechanically sound and safe. TMA reserves the right to remove any bike from camp that is deemed unsafe for the rider or other participants.

Where do I stay during camp?

Accommodations are not included. Riders and families are responsible for booking their own lodging. Hotels in the area are the most common option. Many tracks allow dry camping on site, but this varies by location. Check the FAQ section on your specific camp page for on-site camping details and local recommendations.

What does a typical camp day look like?

Each day is structured around maximizing your time on the track. Expect a mix of focused technique drills, coached group sessions, open riding time, and daily rider education that covers both the physical and mental side of the sport. Every day builds on the one before it.

What happens if it rains?

Camp does not cancel for rain. TMA is built to coach in all conditions and some of the best sessions happen in the mud. If weather becomes genuinely dangerous, the schedule is adjusted: film study, rider education, games, and other activities fill the time until conditions allow riding again. TMA recently ran a full camp at Barona Oaks, California during the rainiest week on record. Camp went off without a hitch. Riders had a blast and learned more than most dry-weather camps deliver.

Can parents and family come watch?

Absolutely. Families are welcome to attend and watch from designated viewing areas along the fenced perimeter. Filming and photography are encouraged. Parents and family members are not permitted on the track during sessions for the safety of all riders.

What is the medical and safety protocol?

Safety is TMA's top priority and every precaution is taken. Motocross is an action sport and injuries can happen. TMA does not pretend otherwise. Most camps have an EMT on location. TMA also travels with a paramedic who serves as an assistant coach, on the track during sessions and first on scene with full medical equipment if something happens. In the case of a serious injury, an ambulance is called immediately.

What is the refund policy?

5-Day Camp Pass Full refund to your original payment method if cancelled more than 60 days before camp. Cancellations within 60 days of camp will receive a full store credit. Store credits never expire and can be applied to any future camp or TMA product.

Day Passes Day passes are non-refundable. In the case of cancellation, a store credit for the full amount will be issued. Store credits never expire.

We are riders too and we know things come up. We are happy to move you into a different camp location whenever possible. Just reach out and we will make it work.

Can I pay over time?

Yes, two ways. Our in-house payment plan lets you set your own payment schedule with no credit check required. Just email kate@themotoacademy.com and she will set up a custom schedule for you in minutes. Shop Pay Installments is also available at checkout for riders who want to split the $1,999 into six equal payments of approximately $333 at 0% interest. Either way, the only requirement is that the balance is paid in full before your camp begins.

Where are camps held?

TMA runs 25+ camp locations across the United States in a given year. Every location is a dedicated motocross facility chosen for its track quality and safety. Locations for 2026 and early 2027 are listed above.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. Waivers are required for all camp participants. To save time on day one, we recommend completing yours before you arrive. You will receive a link in your pre-camp email about 7 days before camp starts. If you have not completed it beforehand, waivers can be signed at check-in on the first Monday of camp. Either way, you are covered.

How should I prepare before camp?

The best preparation is saddle time. Ride as much as you can before camp. The more comfortable you are on the bike, the faster the coaching will click. Beyond riding, make sure your bike is in full mechanical condition before you arrive. TMA's preparation email series also includes training videos to help you hit the ground running. The TMA app is another great tool. Riders use it to train online before camp so the concepts are already familiar when coaching starts.

Is there film study at camp?

Yes. Film study is a core part of every TMA camp, not just a rain-day fallback. Watching your own riding footage with a coach changes things. You see what your body is actually doing versus what it feels like you are doing. That gap is where most improvement lives. On days when weather limits track time, film study and rider education sessions expand to fill the schedule.

What is the TMA app?

The TMA app is the companion to your camp experience: before, during, and after. Use it to train online before camp so the concepts land faster when coaching starts. After camp, upload your riding footage directly for coach critique, follow up with your coaches, and keep building on everything you learned on the track. On the paid tier, you can DM coaches directly. App members also receive 20% off all TMA classes.

Do riders come back for more than one camp?

Most do. Around 72% of TMA camp attendees have attended or are already booked for more than one camp. About 20% took it further and locked in a Season Pass: one payment, unlimited camps and classes for the entire year. If you are serious about progression, it is the best value in the sport.

Can I rent a bike at camp instead of bringing my own?

Yes. TMA offers a limited number of race-ready rental bikes at select camps. Only 5 per camp. Pick a track, book a flight, and ride when you land. No trailer, no tow rig, no logistics. Rentals are $1,000–$1,250 per week and availability is first come, first served. Email info@themotoacademy.com to check availability for your camp.

I have more questions. Who should I contact?
